Students will be equipped with a solid foundation in finance, allowing them to fulfill the demands of their job, progress in their careers as well as plan their personal finances.

This programme is geared for students who wish to progress into degree programmes in Finance, Banking and Business. Students will be expected to develop analytical and “applicable” skills so that they can swiftly transfer knowledge and competencies from their respective specialisation into the workplace context. This programme provides an excellent all-round business education and is best suited for those intending to gain a good understanding of all areas of business, specifically banking and finance.

Exemption

Prior to the start of any year of a course (including prior to the start of year 1 at the application stage), a student may request exemption from one or more specific taught modules during the year on the basis of previous qualifications or experience.

Exemptions will only be considered where the relevant course regulations allow for module exemptions to be granted.
Students with relevant Diploma or equivalent qualifications will be exempted from academic year 1 and 2 depending on their qualifications, subjects to approval from the Examination Board.

Assessment

Assessment is through a mix of examination, coursework and essays, plus other oral and activity-based assignments. Coursework includes problem-solving activities, consultancy projects, presentations and individual and group reports.

Awards

Graduates will be awarded the MQA(Malaysian Qualifications Agency) accredited Diploma after completion of all three academic years.

i. Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) (or any equivalent qualification) with at least credits in 3 subjects including Mathematics and pass in English;
OR
ii. Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) (or any equivalent qualification), with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject, and pass SPM (or any equivalent qualification) with credit in Mathematics and pass in English;
OR
iii. Pass Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul, and pass SPM ( or any equivalent qualification) with credit in Mathematics and pass in English;
OR
iV. Pass Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 in a related field, and pass SPM ( or any equivalent qualification) with credit in Mathematics and pass in English;
OR
v. Any Certificate in Finance, Banking, Insurance or related field (Level 3, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Note: The credit requirement for Mathematics and pass in English at SPM level for candidate in category (ii), (iii) and (iv) can be waived should the qualification contain Mathematics and English subjects with equivalent/higher achievement.

For Diploma level, international student are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 for International English Language Testing System (IELTA) or its equivalent.
